I was a feature writer on daily newspapers in California before I became a photographer.  I combined these two loves for a feature that ran in my local newspaper for three years called Patrisha's People. My subjects were neighbors who had interesting lives, I was curious about, or I just liked a lot. Evelyn never had a doll as a child. Now, she fixes old dolls and outfits them with her Singer sewing machine and places them in the loving arms of poor children. "Some have gone to to Mexico. It does my heart good to know that when a child goes to bed they have something to hug." Housekeeper Gerry Wright is part of the 6 a.m. crowd of regulars at McDucks.  "We've got to get our bones to work. A few fun, kind words between people that you meet every single morning is a great way to start the day."
