FLOWER GIRLS  2004-2012
Growing up in Montreal I knew nothing about gardens or flowers. I fell in love with old roses after moving in 1990 to a hilltop estate in Maine, where one rose bush remained of the gardens planted by a previous owner. I added garden after garden, and rose after rose, and through difficult times, I gained comfort through such delightful and steadfast companions as Felicite Parmentier, Charles de Mille and Mme. Isaac Pereire.

The extraordinary beauty of the individual blossoms is best captured in black and white, without the distraction of color. Being so attuned to photographing children I paired the roses and perennials from my garden with girls also in the first, fresh bloom of their beauty.
This series was first exhibited at the Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay Harbor.
